Press Release:
Indian fashion designer Masaba Gupta of House of Masaba has collaborated with Lakmé for a collection of their classic Lip Pouts, inspired by sugary sweets from the ’90s. While Gupta’s previous beauty collaborations have involved her working mainly on the packaging, she believes this is the first line she can call her own. “We sat for a year, worked on the shades and the names, created digital films and I’m the face of it—it’s a complete 360 degree collaboration from scratch.”
The Lakmé Absolute Lip Pouts Masaba Lips collection includes 10 matte lipsticks in the designer’s signature candy prints and a mix of bright and nude colours. Priced at Rs 750 each, they’re inspired by candies: “a smoky red like the Phantom cigarettes, a bright orange like Mango Bite, Melody for the nudes and browns, pink bubblegum and a lovely plum and purple like the Roll-A-Cola”. When asked about how this collection stands out from the brand’s other products, Purnima Lamba, head of innovation – Lakmé India said, “Masaba had a wonderful set of concepts to share with the brand team, and we shortlisted a set of ideas and worked together toward the final shades and designs that were printed on to the Lip Pouts. The best part of this collection was that Masaba was part of the creation every step of the way. And the cherry on top was featuring her in our digital campaign too. This is the first time a designer has also featured as a model for Lakmé.”
